March 13, 20 & 27, 2023!

A Monday-Wednesday-Friday Schedule for an email-based workshop for

 three weeks.

The very ground beneath our feet is moving. As writers we are constantly trying to make sense of this world and our feelings, and sometimes we need a boost to help us focus, learn something new, and be creative. This workshop is aimed at inspiring you, setting up a routine, and keeping you on your toes! Let’s be alert and articulate and adventurous. Let’s develop skills (and a vocabulary) we need as serious writers and readers. Let's send out our work and be heard!

Workshop Description:

This workshop is conducted via email only. There will be no Zoom or FaceTime sessions. You will need to keep track of dates and organize your schedule.

In brief: You will receive a handout to read via email each Monday morning. You will write new work, and share it with the group by Wednesday night. You will then read the submissions, write a brief critical response on each poem/piece submitted by a participant and send it to that participant only, by Friday night. Detailed guidelines will be provided when you sign up. Of course, participants are free to submit revised work if they wish, not necessarily new work.
each participant will receive individual written critiques from me.

Prose and poetry. Fiction, CNF, memoir, drama, hybrid forms, reflections/meditations, experimental work and anything in between welcome! Those who are getting ready to send out their work, more experienced writers, and those exploring writing for the love of it--all will receive critical feedback. All levels of writers welcome.

Format:
Monday morning you will receive a poem/prose, song lyrics, lists of lines or words, or even an article, as reading to inspire you and/or to use as a prompt.
By Wednesday night you submit a poem or prose piece to me and to each participant of the workshop. You are free to write/send what you like, (even something you’ve written previously), and experiment with hybrid forms. You may also send a new version of something that you wrote for this workshop and then revised using comments we sent).
One poem, 1-2 pages, single spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman
or prose/drama/hybrid
4-6 pages, double spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman

By Friday night, you send a brief, critical written response to each participant on the poem/piece submitted.

"Chapbook SOFISTIKASHUN"-- personalized coaching to suit your needs.

--This workshop will be conducted via email and phone

An intensive and personal class that I will design for you!  Prose, poetry, hybrid or experimental writing welcome!

We need to tell our stories, we need to preserve our work, our art, we need to sing and be heard! This is the most urgent need of a writer and artist today. These sessions will help you to create a "sofistikated" and unique work of art that celebrates your voice,  and will teach you craft as well as give you the skills/tools to create sophisticated chapbooks. You will polish your work and produce a finished manuscript that you can send to publishers, or (self) publish for your family and friends, or arrange a pamphlet for a special occasion. Instructions will be provided at each step. Arrangement of poems and (narrative) arc will receive primary attention. You will receive typed comments, and individual coaching sessions (via phone or FaceTime).

For more information and a description of the process, please email me at zilzone8@gamil.com
